Jude’s Challenge
A retired schoolteacher who’d opted for earlier retirement, Jude had counted on being able to make do using her super savings funds that she’d so regularly contributed to throughout her working life. But the balance was gradually going down! She lived frugally but was very worried that her funds would run out.
With there being no benefits available to her in early retirement, she had no clarity regarding her current super fund, including whether it was investing ethically, which was a key issue. She sold her house and had plans to ‘semi-retire up north’ but wanted to ensure that funds would be available if she decided to buy a new home.

The Outcome
After reviewing Jude’s funds, we discovered she was invested in a very low earning option that wasn’t in line with her risk profile or ethical interests. We assisted Jude to realign her finances to be invested in ethical, better performing and tax-efficient funds. She also has a buffer account for any unexpected expenses during her travels around Australia.
How We Did It
We helped Jude invest in and out of super, choosing funds with good performance, that were in line with her ethical interests and would support her income requirements.
We assisted Jude in becoming more tax-efficient and restructured her finances.
We developed a strategy for Jude to reinvest unused funds into her super and savings (for a possible new home) while sticking to her plan to spend as little as possible.
We are advising Jude on her options to access government support should this be required.
